When you buy a chart from cartafina, you agree to the terms and conditions on this page. So if you want to buy a cartafina chart but are unsure about if you can incorporate it into your own artwork or place it on blogs, or change it, the first two paragraphs should explain everything there is to know. The rest of this page covers the usual legal blurb.

about what you shouldn't do with cartafina charts

The important stuff first: When you download a cartafina product, you agree not to resell, sublicense, rent, transfer or otherwise make it available for use detached from the cartafina brand. You may not use, or allow anyone else to use cartafina charts or any element of them to create pornographic, libelous, obscene, or defamatory material. You agree not to hold Petra or cartafina liable for any damages that may occur due to use, or inability to use cartafina charts or any chart element. And you can't place the charts or any chart element on download sites.

about what you CAN do with cartafina charts

You can blog about them. Use any image or text snippet from this site for your article. You can open the chart and change any element of it, (please don't publicise it again under cartafina name though. And state what your changes are so that everyone knows where cartafina creation ends and your creation begins). You can also copy text or any element out of the chart, modify them and place them into your own artwork. Please keep in mind, though, that the charts were created for viewing and printing. All elements are on one layer, for example, which can make it difficult to select individual vector elements, but greatly reduces file size. Cartafina thinks this is a good compromise, since most people will prefer to have charts that are smaller and less editable, to those that clog up their hard drives but are easily editable. You might also get a "missing font" warning when opening a chart with a layout software. The charts use fonts that read and print well (also ensuring that text can be copied), but aren't pre-installed on any computers. The software will tell you which font it is if you want to buy it. Or simply substitute it, if you just want to copy the text. Please understand that cartafina can't offer support on changing the charts or vector elements on the charts. If you find you are using a lot of elements from the charts in your own work, give cartafina credit by showing the logo or name (or both) and the web link (cartafina.com). And please read the first paragraph on where not to use cartafina charts or chart elements.

about returns and fee updates

Although cartafina has sweated over describing the charts as perfectly as possible on each product page, there is still the possibility that you were expecting something else when you opened your cartafina purchase. If so, simply write a mail to hello@cartafina.com and we can sort the matter out. In any case, please read the description page carefully before purchasing. Cartafina products are provided "as is" and the product page lists everything you will find on each chart. When you buy a cartafina chart, you automatically get the latest version of it. We can't give out older versions of the chart that you might have seen somewhere. Only the latest version is available and supported. If small corrections or updates are made, cartafina will send an updated version to all previous buyers of this chart free of charge. (please allow 1-2 weeks for this to happen. There is that day job.) And just as with updates of software, big changes or additions will require a new purchase or an upgrade fee. If you bought this chart at some point in the past, come back to the corresponding product page on this site from time to time to see what's new in the latest version.

a few words about copyright

Cartafina respects copyright and doesn't use copyrighted material without permission. If you feel cartafina violates copyright, please email at hello@cartafina.com and we can resolve the issue. The copyright on all of the cartafina products remains with cartafina. Cartafina products can be used royalty-free by the original buyer for any personal creative project for all eternity and can be placed on blogs and other websites or any other publications. If you do so, please give cartafina credit. Just mention the URL somewhere (cartafina.com) and say that the chart was made by cartafina. That's all. You can use the images from this site, if you want.

about updates and changes on cartafina charts

Cartafina will update the charts on this site from time to incorporate new material or make necessary changes of any kind on them. That means that more recent charts can be slightly different from older charts with the same name. There's a version number and a year date on each chart, so buyers know when it was made and what version they have. If small corrections or updates are made, cartafina will send an updated version to all previous buyers of this chart free of charge. (please allow 1-2 weeks for this to happen. There is that day job.) And just like with updates of software, big changes or additions will require a new purchase or an upgrade fee. If you bought this chart at some point in the past, come back to the corresponding webs page from time to time to see the latest version. If you've bought a chart and have not received the free update to the latest version, write a quick mail with your date of purchase to hello@cartafina.com.

a few words about language and abbreviations

Because of the compressed amount of information on each cartafina chart, sentences are often abbreviates and can feel incomplete or even like bad English to some. The idea is always to make a sentence as complete as possible, but if shortening it creates space on the chart to pack more information on it, sentences can become short and cryptic. This was done with as much care as possible to preserving the readability and logic of the sentence. If you feel that some sentences are too short, or seem unfinished or unreadable, please mail cartafina at hello@cartafina.com with your suggestion on how to change the sentence. Just write the existing sentence, your suggestion and mention the name of the chart. It's always a high cartafina aim to continuously update and refine the charts.
